Hollywood legend Jane Fonda has shared an emotional farewell to her former husband Ted Turner after the billionaire businessman passed away aged 87.

The Oscar-winning actress, now 88, took to Instagram with a deeply personal tribute describing the media tycoon as a “swashbuckling pirate” who changed her life forever.

Jane, who was married to Ted from 1991 until 2001, opened up about the intense bond they shared and the impact he had on her confidence and outlook on life.

Remembering their whirlwind romance, Grace and Frankie star said Ted “swept into” her life with his larger-than-life personality, brilliant mind and legendary humour.

She admitted she had never experienced someone needing her in the way Ted did, while also making her feel cared for at the same time.

The Barbarella actress praised the CNN and Turner Classic Movies founder for teaching her about business, strategy, wildlife and the natural world, revealing she learned more from him than from “any school classes”.

Jane described Ted as fiercely intelligent and endlessly competitive, saying he could “see around corners” thanks to his strategic thinking and adventurous spirit.

But alongside the admiration, she also painted a picture of a man full of vulnerability beneath his powerful public image.

She called that openness his “greatest strength”, adding that their relationship pushed and challenged her in ways she had never known before.
