Taye Diggs, who is well known for his roles in the Broadway musicals Rent and Hedwig, recounted one of his most iconic stage blunder.
The versatile actor and singer recalled throwing a broomstick nearly offstage during a performance in Wicked with his ex-wife Idina Menzel.
The 55-year-old candidly shared the embarrassing incident, during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE's magazine.
This happened when he was speaking at the opening night of Joe Turner Come and Gone at The Barrymore Theatre back in April 25.
“I was playing the Scarecrow." Adding, "there was this moment when I'm supposed to swing out on stage and I'm supposed to throw the broomstick to Idina and I threw the broomstick and it almost went offstage.”
He claimed that the mistake shocked Menzel and the audience. "Everybody laughed. I will never forget that," he noted.
In 2003, he became a cast member of Wicked, as Fiyero with Menzel, who played Elphaba.
The dyad got hitched in 2003 sharing a son, Walker. After having nine years of marriage, separated in 2014.
Notably, Diggs was back on stage after a decade hiatus with him playing The Duke of Monroth in Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
The star who was the primary antagonist admitted that he was "way more scared than I thought I would be."
Moreover, he marked his experience, "There's nothing like being in front of a live audience."
Diggs said that there's nothing like theater as he compared it with other things he loved and punched, "I'd like to do more."
