Ernie Hudson is opening up about doing his own stunts at 80, including a recent one in which he denied needing a stuntman.

The Boston Blue actor had to throw a couple punches for one of scenes in the crime drama, something that was unusual for his character in the series.

In a conversation with People, the Ghostbusters actor stated, "It was funny. When they brought a stuntman in to throw the punch and I go, 'Really, guys? I mean, I think I can throw a punch,’… I turned 80, but something about that number, it's big. And it's even big for me.”

“Sometimes people assume that maybe you can't do something, but I've always tried to stay ready, so to speak. I was always afraid of not being prepared and not being in shape to do it. So I've never allowed myself to get too far out of shape or too heavy,” Ernie added.

The Miss Congeniality actor also dished that he did not expect his character Reverend Edwin Peters’ to have a physical scene, since the role is of a grandfather’s.

Notably, Ernie considered the sequence a welcome surprise and that he felt excited about it as well as the nuance of the character shown off in Boston Blue.
