Olivia Dean has lifted the lid on life behind the glitz and glamour and revealed it’s her tight-knit circle of friends who keep her firmly grounded.
The 27-year-old chart-topper is riding high after a whirlwind year, scooping the coveted Best New Artist prize at the Grammys and bagging an impressive four gongs at the BRIT Awards.
But despite the dizzying highs, Olivia insists she hasn’t lost sight of what really matters.
Opening up in a candid chat with ELLE magazine, the Man I Need hitmaker admitted her world can feel “extreme” at times.
“I come home from something like the Grammys, and the debrief we’ll have is crazy,” she said.
“It’s all so high glamour and a bit preposterous.”
Olivia says her friends bring her straight back down to earth, yet, away from the flashing cameras and A-list parties.
“My life isn’t more important than anyone else’s — it’s just mine,” she shared, adding that their grounded perspective helps her stay mentally strong in an industry where it’s easy to get “lost”.
The rising star also reflected on her emotional Grammy acceptance speech, where she paid tribute to her grandmother, who moved to the UK from Guyana as a teenager.
The Dive hitmaker said the moment felt deeply personal and sincere, shaped by conversations with her family beforehand and called herself “a product of bravery.”
But fame hasn’t come without its downsides.
In a surprising move, the songstress revealed she’s ditched social media altogether after the awards frenzy.
Despite an outpouring of love, she confessed: “Even that isn’t healthy sometimes. I want to live in sweet ignorance.”
