Justin Timberlake has filed for a legal action against the public release of his body camera video from his 2024 arrest.
The 45-year-old was taken in to custody after he was caught behind the wheels while being under the influence (DWI).
The Village of Sag Harbor and its law enforcement are now looking forward to drop the arrest video as a result of receiving requests from media organisations like NBC News and The Associated Press.
As a result of these filings, the NSYNC member argued in his legal suit against the release, insisting it would be “an invasion of privacy” as the clip allegedly consists of “personally identifiable information.”
According to the court documents, the “private details are not relevant to any law enforcement action of public concern."
Justin’s legal team is asking to block the release, highlighting the irreparable harm including, “stigma, harassment, reputational injury and permanent loss of privacy.”
The defendant’s lawyer revealed Supreme Court Justice Joseph Farnetti allowed negotiation between the two parties by deferring a ruling.
It was reported that the parties are engaging in discussions while the village is trying to maintain transparency as much as possible.
After Sag Harbor showed intentions to share the footage with particular redactions, Justin “sought a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction.”
