Olivia Dean and Sam Fender kicked off the BRIT Awards in spectacular style on Saturday night, taking home the coveted Song of the Year award for their duet Rein Me In.

For 26-year-old singer, it was her very first BRIT win, while Sam added a fourth trophy to his impressive haul.

The track, which originally appeared on Sam’s album People Watching before being reworked as a collaboration, clearly struck a chord with voters.

Accepting the award from Robbie Williams, Olivia said: “I think this is a beautiful song and it’s been a pleasure to be a part of it.”

Sam was equally heartfelt, sharing: “I wrote it about four years ago and I loved it then. Olivia has made it her own, so I want to say thank you to Olivia and thank you to the fans.”

The win continues a remarkable run for Dive singer, who only recently scooped Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards.

At the Grammys, she described herself as the “product of bravery” and thanked her family and team for their unwavering support.

London-born songstress has also been making waves with her acclaimed album The Art of Loving, inspired by Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City, even though she only recently started watching the series.

Speaking about one standout track, she said: “Something In Between is about when you are between being with somebody and not… you’re like, ‘I don’t want to just have you in my life.’”
