Jason Bateman has disclosed that he has almost dropped out of Hollywood at the point of the greatest doubt trade red carpets in a café counter in Europe.
The 57-year-old started working when he was 10 in films, including Little House on the Prairie, Silver Spoons and The Hogan Family.
The character portrayed by the veteran star dwindled in his 20s, he thought about leaving the industry a couple of times.
He imagined a small, cosy life and told The Hollywood Reporter that he would have purchased a small coffee shop somewhere in Western Europe, learnt the language and found friends in the local village.
Rather, the American actor career rejuvenated with Arrested Development, putting him back on track.
Looking back at those kingless times Bateman remarked, “I have seen and felt what it is like to really not have a lot of prospects, and it keeps you hungry.”
He is currently a co-host of the successful SmartLess together with Will Arnett and Sean Hayes in addition to being an actor.
Creative freedom has also brought him success as Bateman stated that due to the success of the podcast, he has a healthy amount of indifference because of financial security, which has made him pick projects.
In recent times Arnett announced on The Romesh Ranganathan Show that the three of them once scraped an episode of a guest who was very famous after ending the interview.
To Bateman, the almost departure of Hollywood now is not so much of regret - as of vision.
