Katie Holmes broke silence on death of her Dawson Creek's co-star James Van Der Beek.

The Varsity Blues star had been diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2023 and announced the news the following year.

The Batman Begins actress in moving hand written, which posted on Instagram wrote, "I am so grateful to have shared in a piece of James’ journey. He is beloved. Kimberly, we love you and will be here always for you and your beautiful children."

She added that his death was a "a lot to process," and that she'd written her words with a "heavy heart."

Expressing her gratitude, she thanked Beek saying that working alongside his imagination felt special and meaningful.

She described the experience as sharing a creative space built on trust, mutual respect, and the freedom to express themselves openly.

The First Daughter actress continued, "These are some of the memories, along with laughter, conversations about life, James Taylor songs — adventures of a unique youth."

Holmes went on praise his qualities, including, "compassion, bravery, selflessness and strength."

She went on to write that she mourns the loss of Van Der Beek "with a heart holding the reality of his absence and deep gratitude for his imprint on it."

Holmes concluded the letter addressing the late actor’s wife Kimberly Van Der Beek, and the six kids they shared.

"We are here for you always," she wrote. "And will always be there to shower you with love and compassion."
