Taylor Swift’s 'WAG Era': Here's how she joined NFL’s celebrity fandom

Taylor Swift’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, which began publicly in 2023 and culminated in an engagement announcement in August 2025, has made her one of the most visible figures associated with the NFL off the field.

Swift, traditionally known for her record-breaking music career, has since been spotted at games, events and VIP suites with Kelce’s family and other high-profile partners of NFL athletes, often drawing mainstream media and fan attention alike.

According to Daily Mail, the surge in visibility for athlete partners has led commentators to describe the current moment as a renaissance of the WAG (wives and girlfriends) culture, where celebrity and sport increasingly intertwine.

Moreover, unlike the early 2000s era of WAGs, often relegated to tabloid fodder, today’s group, including Brittany Mahomes and others, are recognized not just for who they’re with, but for their own public influence and style.

As per the outlet, experts say Swift’s presence at NFL events has broadened the league’s appeal, driving higher viewership among diverse audiences and bringing fresh media interest to football beyond traditional fan bases.
