Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who have been friends for over four decades, have paired up to play cops in the upcoming The Rip.
Although the duo alone is enough to build anticipation, there’s more to it than their on-screen chemistry.
During their appearance on The Tonight show starring Jimmy Fallon, Matt revealed that the story is reality based as it celebrates a real team of Miami cops.
The director and writer of the action film, Joe Carnahan, spent a “lot of time with this team down in Miami. They are called the tactical narcotics team.”
The group have seized money acquired through “ill-gotten games… drug money… weapons money" from houses after extensive raids.
According to the Odyssey star, this is inspired from something “that did really happen.” The team succeeded in recovering “$20 million from the walls of this house.”
Ben further described their experience of meeting with the real cops and detectives during the shooting of the film, making him “feel like a real cop.”
The 53-year-old actor and the Interstellar star have acted out in several movies together, including: Field of Dreams, Good will, Hunting, The Last Duel and Air.
The two share a strong bond as The Accountant star recently gushed about Matt’s progress in the entertainment industry, carefully picking roles that suit him.
