Simon Cowell played an important role in forming One Direction with members Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles.
Although the 66-year-old spoke out on Liam's death, fans are still blaming him for the fallout of the band and the death of one of the members.
The English host reignited the controversy after he announced a new boy band name December 10 (D10), which is said to be a splitting image of One Direction.
One of the Instagram users asked: “Is he going to exploit them like he did with 1D again?” while another claimed that “Simon abused so many people. He shouldn’t even be allowed to sign artists.”
An admirer of the ex-group declared: “No one can compare to 1D,” asking him to “stop trying” to establish another fandom.
While many sense “a pattern,” the TV star is yet to address the buzz.
However, he denied taking the blame for the problems that faced Zayn, Louis, Harry, Niall and seemingly being responsible for Liam’s death.
The X Factor host insisted that the idea of being “responsible for somebody’s life, 10 years after you’ve signed someone” is not acceptable.
On the other hand, 1D fans continue to hold him accountable for presumably pushing their limits and causing mental stress after signing them to Syco Records.
The late member was vocal about his drug abuse and alcoholism during his life.
Although the singer died after falling from the third floor balcony, toxicology reports confirmed high levels of antidepressants, cocaine and an alcohol level of 2.7 grams per litre.
