British author Sophie Kinsella passed away leaving behind a legacy of best selling novels.
On December 10, the author’s family confirmed that she had passed away at the age of 55.
Sophie, whose real name is Madeleine Sophie Wickham, was known for her popular Shopaholic book series.
The family’s statement read “She died peacefully, with her final days filled with her true loves: family and music and warmth and Christmas and joy.”
Sophie had previously revealed in 2024 that she was diagnosed with glioblastoma.
Glioblastoma is an aggressive form of brain cancer, which grows quickly destroys tissues.
The condition was diagnosed after the author underwent a gallbladder surgery in 2023 which was followed by headaches and breathlessness.
Sophie was receiving treatment at University College Hospital in London where she recieved surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
The author rose to fame in 2000 from her iconic book Confessions of a Shopaholic, which was later adapted into a movie in 2009 starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy.
The 55-year-old’s last work was inspired by her health battle titled What Does It Feel Like?.
