Kim Kardashian shares secret twist behind her famous name

Kim Kardashian has lifted the lid on a little-known secret from the early days of her fame.

The 45-year-old mogul, who originally went by her full name Kimberly Kardashian, told Time magazine she had a sudden realisation in 2007 while seeing her name appear on the screen.

The SKIMS founder revealed that she actually changed her name just moments before making her debut on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

“I used to always go by Kimberly,” she said. 

“But when we signed the reality show, I thought, ‘That’s so long for people to say. Let’s just shorten it to Kim.’”

Adding to the twist, it remains little known that even today her childhood friends, and even her late father, Robert Kardashian, still called her Kimberly.

Kim also claimed she was the driving force behind getting sisters Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie on board with KUWTK in the first place. 

For those unfamiliar, Kanye West’s ex-wife had always planned to be on reality TV, having become obsessed with MTV’s The Real World when she was a child.

How many biological kids does Kim Kardashian have?

Kim Kardashian has four biological children with her ex-husband Kanye West. 

Their eldest, North, was born in 2013, followed by Saint in 2015, Chicago in 2018, and their youngest, Psalm, in 2019.
