Le Bal des Débutantes 2025 just took place in Paris this year with 19 young women making their debut in high society.
The culture of debuting in society is a long-held tradition that has been going on for centuries, as seen in the Netflix Period drama Bridgerton.
Every year daughters of elite families are introduced into society with their “debut”, hence called debutante or “deb”.
Historically, this is done for them to look for suitable marriage partners but in modern era, it is more of a networking event.
Over the years, Le Bal des Débutantes has gained the reputation of being the most sought after ball in the world but only 20-25 new debs get the opportunity between the age of 16 to 22.
The 2025 event took place at Shangri-La Paris with 19 new faces who graced the halls of the hotel.
This years 19-women line up included Gabrielle Janssens de Balkany, Ella Wadia, Alice Wang, Reagan Sacks and more.
The ball began at 10pm when each lady was announced before their arrival in English and French.
Accompanied by a cavalier, each girl gets to have an individual walk before all gather and pose for pictures together.
A fine dinner is later served to the guests before they make their way for the legendary father-daughter waltz.
Some of the famous debutantes of the ball include Margaret Qualley, Apple Martin, Lily Collins and Lady Kitty Spencer.
