English music icon Ozzy Osbourne passed away in July 2025 weeks after performing for a huge crowd of fans.

The late singer’s funeral procession was attended by thousands in his hometown of Birmingham and he was later buried on the grounds of his family's home, Welders House, in Buckinghamshire, England.

Months after the star’s death, he is announced to recieve a major honour from his hometown.

The Black Sabbath icon will be posthumously honoured with Birmingham’s Lord Mayor’s Award.

The award is one of the city’s highest civic recognitions which will be presented to the family of the late singer on December 3.

The family will be presented with the award by Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Ken Wood, meanwhile, Lord Mayor Councillor Zafar Iqbal MBE will hand over Books of Condolence to his family.

Zafar Iqbal called Ozzy “a proud and much-missed son of Birmingham”.

By awarding Ozzy with the honour, his contributions to Birmingham’s cultural and musical identity will be rewarded.

Ozzy suffered from Parkinson’s disease and other injuries he sustained after a fall in 2019.

The singer is survived by his widow Sharon and six children.
