The film also featured a song by Shakira at the end, who performs Try Everything for a wild crowd filled with animal characters.
The new release is reportedly leading at the box office, topping with $19.7 million on Thursday and is expected to reach $150 million during the holiday season.
The animated sequel earned rave review with one critic noting that it is the best to date as the movie successfully maintained “the charm from the original.”
According to viewers, it has several references to other hit projects including The Shining and The Ratatouille, sending fans in to a frenzy.
Another netizen gave a thumbs up to the animation without giving spoilers, “ALL of the references were clever and well used… Script was better than the first overall.”
The new part, featuring celebrities like Dwayne Johnson, Shakira, Ke Huy Quan, Macaulay Culkin, Danny Trejo, revives the thrilling adventures of officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.
