The legendary actor Brendan Fraser has teased fans with the surprising prospect of returning to the beloved The Mummy franchise.
The 56-year-old actor, who famously played adventurer Rick O’Connell from the original 1999 film to 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, described the idea as “anything’s possible” during a recent interview with Deadline.
“I am sorry, but I want you to know that there is a definite fan base,” Fraser said, reflecting on the enduring love for the series.
He recently attended a fan convention in Minnesota, where he was greeted by 3,000 enthusiastic fans.
“We did a Q&A on stage, and I walked off thinking, ‘Man, I am gonna get a personality hangover from that,’” he laughed.
Rumours of a fourth installment have been swirling, with both The Whale lead and Rachel Weisz, who played Rick’s wife Evelyn, reportedly in talks to reprise their roles.
Plot details remain under wraps, but Radio Silence, the duo behind the Scream films are set to direct, with producers from the original trilogy and Project X on board.
Fraser also recalled a near-death stunt on the original set during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, involving a rope around his neck and a very close call on his toes. “
