Meghan Markle has been slammed as “hilariously egotistical and breathtakingly hypocritical” after an awkward moment in the US reignited criticism of her use of royal titles.
The Duchess of Sussex’s close friendship with billionaire cosmetics mogul Victoria Jackson, 70, who has reportedly let Meghan and Prince Harry stay in her multiple mansions for free, has already drawn attention.
But it was a recent episode inside one of Jackson’s luxurious homes that sparked fresh mockery.
According to reports, Meghan sat down for an interview with a magazine journalist inside the mogul’s lavish residence.
Despite only two people being in the room, Meghan was formally announced as “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex”, a moment that went viral and left social media users in hysterics.
Jane Moore, columnist and regular on Loose Women, sharply criticised the duchess for the incident.
She wrote:“Both hilariously egotistical and breathtakingly hypocritical considering she and Prince Harry have repeatedly criticised the Royal Family that bestowed the ‘Sussex’ title on them.”
The moment has reignited debate over Meghan and Harry’s ongoing use of their royal titles, despite stepping back from official royal duties in 2020 and frequently criticising the institution linked to them.
