Prince William gives moving speech at COP30

Prince William’s major trip of the years is nearing its end with an emotional speech.

The Prince of Wales landed in Brazil on Monday for a busy week ahead full of environmental focused activities.

On Wednesday, the prince attended his Earthshot Awards where five winners were announced.

Later, on Thursday the prince attended the UN’s COP30 summit for climate change where he gave a landmark speech.

William gave the speech on behalf of his father King Charles and the British Government.

The future king called for global “courage, co-operation and unwavering commitment” to tackle climate change crisis.

“Action on climate not only protects future generations but is a powerful engine to create better jobs and lives today”.

While addressing the world leaders and delegates gathered in the Amazon, William urged them to see the “tough” road ahead as an opportunity to “grow our economies, develop new technologies and create secure and affordable energy systems”.

He also appreciated the Brazilian “visionary”, fund for rainforests.

The prince also took a moment to remember the Welsh flood victims he met with his wife Kate earlier this year, saying he was “deeply moved” by their resilience.
