During the sentencing hearing in Manhattan federal court, the judge acknowledged Combs’ success, calling him “a self-made artist and businessman who inspired and lifted up communities.”

However, the court also considered is troubling past, particularly his alleged “Freak-Offs,” in which multiple victims accused him of physical, emotional, and psychological abuse.

“You abused them, physically, emotionally and psychologically,” the judge said. “Why did it happen for so long? Because you had the power and resources to keep it going.”
