Meghan Markle has spoken out for the first time about her and Prince Harry’s renewed partnership with Netflix, addressing claims that their updated contract marks a “downgrade” from their original multimillion-dollar deal.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, appeared at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington, D.C., where she discussed the couple’s first-look agreement, an extension of their original 2020 deal with the streaming giant.
Meghan told the audience: “My husband and I were in an overall deal with Netflix, and the extension of it is now being in a first-look deal, which is exciting because it gives us flexibility. We can go to Netflix first, but also shop content that might not fit there yet finds a home elsewhere.”
The updated contract allows the couple’s production arm, Archewell Productions, to pitch new creative projects beyond Netflix while maintaining a close relationship with the streamer.
Meghan also teased that her lifestyle series With Love, Meghan could return for a third season.
“The holiday special is coming out in November and it’s a really good one,” she said.
“We’re exploring how to share shorter content too, like two-minute recipes, to grow As Ever.”
