Marriage was a cool concept for Charli XCX, but she always had a clouded vision of seeing herself getting married.
The Brat hitmaker, who tied the knot with George Daniel in London in July, followed by a second ceremony in Italy last month, opened up about becoming a bride.
In a new cover story interview for Vanity Fair, Charli revealed that she never expected to walk down the aisle.
“It’s cool to be married,” the Grammy nominee told the outlet. “I never really saw it for myself, to be honest.”
Charli noted that her parents, Jon and Shameera Aitchison, didn’t get married until she was 16 years old.
“I think one day they were, like, feeling it... And I think that’s so sweet,” she said of her parents.
The singer wore a Vivienne Westwood dress, which arrived only five days before the ceremony at Hackney Town Hall.
“It was cool to feel so in love, and do it our way,” Charli shared with VF. “We both kind of just wanted to not feel the pressures of the things you’re supposed to feel when you get married.”
The 1999 crooner said she wanted to steer clear of the pressure of making it feel like “the biggest day of your life as a woman,” instead choosing to see it as “just another cool day.”
