Keanu Reeves has paid a touching tribute to the late Diane Keaton, calling her a “generous artist” following her death at the age of 79.
The 61-year-old Matrix star fondly remembered working with Keaton on the 2003 romantic comedy Something’s Gotta Give, in which they starred alongside Jack Nicholson.
Speaking to E! News, Reeves said: “Total pro. She was very nice to me. Generous, generous artist and a very special, unique person.”
Reflecting on his time on set, he added, “It was cool to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together. Just with the history they shared and the fondness and love they had for each other. It’s really cool.”
The film’s writer and director Nancy Meyers also shared an emotional tribute to the Oscar-winning actress on Instagram, admitting the last 48 hours had “not been easy”.
“As a movie lover, I’m with you all – we have lost a giant,” Meyers wrote. “As a woman, I lost a friend of almost 40 years. She felt like a sister.”
Praising the Godfather star’s warmth and talent, the 75-year-old filmmaker described her as “fearless” and “born to be a movie star”.
She added, “Her laugh could make your day, and for me, knowing her and working with her changed my life. Thank you, Di. I’ll miss you forever.”
Keanu Reeves is keeping busy with several new projects.
He stars as an angel in Aziz Ansari’s upcoming comedy Good Fortune, releasing on October 2025, and recently appeared in Ballerina, a John Wick spin-off with Ana de Armas.
Reeves will return for John Wick: Chapter 5 and voice the assassin in an animated prequel exploring the character’s origins.
He’s also working on Constantine 2, the long-awaited sequel to his 2005 supernatural thriller.
