Meghan Markle is being urged to apologise after sharing what royal experts have called a “highly insensitive” Instagram video during her trip to Paris Fashion Week.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, attended Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2026 show in the French capital last week, marking her first European appearance in nearly two years.
However, her visit sparked controversy after she posted a short clip on Instagram showing her feet resting on the seat of a car as she drove past Pont de l’Alma, the same area where Princess Diana tragically died in 1997.
While sources close to Meghan insist the post was not intentional, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond says the duchess should “apologise and clarify” the mistake.
Bond told The Mirror: “Meghan’s post of being driven so close to the tunnel where Diana died was highly insensitive — but unintentionally so. She should have thought about it more carefully, but like many people, she probably shared it without considering the implications.”
“Perhaps she should have posted a follow-up explaining her mistake and apologising.”
Reports initially claimed Prince Harry was “furious” over the video, but insiders now say he was mostly hurt by how the moment was twisted online.
A friend told The Mail on Sunday: “Harry was left upset. Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with… he was despondent rather than shocked.”
