‘Matlock’ star David Del Rio fired over sexual assault allegations

Matlock series regular David Del Rio has been fired from the legal series after an investigation into an alleged sexual assault.

According to sources that spoke to Deadline, the incident occurred on September 26 and involved fellow series regular Leah Lewis.

Reportedly occurring in her trailer, it triggered an immediate investigation by the producers of the series as well as CBS Studios.

After the internal investigation took place, Del Rio was fired and taken off the Paramount lot on the same day the assault was reported, which is purported to be October 2.

Sources claim that executive producer Eric Christian Olsen was one of the people who escorted Del Rio off the lot.

Although filming continued after the actor’s removal, Matlock is all set to go on a pre-planned hiatus next week after the first half of season 2 is wrapped up within this week.

Hours after the release of the reports on the situation, Lewis took to her social media to post photos of herself with her mother, writing, “Mom is here. We’re moving forward in love and strength. I’m in good hands. Thank you to everybody for any kind of support and care. Truly, we’re moving forward in strength. Key word, strength. Let that be the takeaway.”

Del Rio is yet to comment on the situation, however his wife reposted the photo from Lewis with her mother, zoomed in on her specifically with the words, “This is the most disturbing human being I have ever met.”

The story has since then been deleted.
