Metal legend Ozzy Osbourne was “thrilled and delighted” after hearing his vocals combined with Judas Priest on their cover of the Black Sabbath classic War Pigs, just weeks before his death in July.
Frontman Rob Halford revealed the heartwarming moment to Billboard, saying Ozzy and wife Sharon listened to the final mix and were all smiles.
“He was grinning — very happy. Sharon later told us he was absolutely thrilled we got to do something together musically in this way,” he said.
Notably, the collaboration marked a historic first, bringing together two of heavy metal’s biggest acts on a track loved by millions.
The 74-year-old singer admitted it was especially poignant knowing Ozzy passed just two weeks after hearing the song.
Sharon Osbourne had suggested mixing Rob’s vocals with Ozzy’s.
“I was doing the happy dance — here, for the first time, I have the opportunity to sing with Ozzy,” Rob said.
He added that their voices naturally complement each other: “It’s kind of spooky… when Ozzy sings and I sing, the way the two voices are put together, it’s absolutely magical.”
