Matthew McConaughey reveals what led him to marry Camila Alves

American actor Matthew McConaughey opened up about his marriage to Camila Alves and what made him decide he wants to marry her.

The Oscar-winning star already had a son with the Brazilian model who was four when he asked Matthew a thought-provoking question.

Matthew revealed that it was infact his son’s question that led him to marry Camila.

Speaking on the Modern Wisdom podcast on Monday, the Interstellar star said that his son Levi asked him a question that moved him.

Levi, who was then four, asked him why his mother did not share the same surname as him.

The question left Matthew baffled who was shocked at a four-year-old’s Inquisitiveness.

“I sat there. I was like, ‘It’s a great question, but I mean, we’re not married. When you get married, you switch your name’.”, the actor recalled.

His son’s follow up question was if Matthew is scared.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, I guess I am’.”, he replied.

The conversation led the Hollywood star to reach out to a pastor who helped him figure it out.

Finally, in 2011 the couple got engaged and tied the knot in 2012, welcoming their third child, Livingston, later that year.
