Josh Hartnett, once one of Hollywood’s most bankable heartthrobs, has suffered a setback after being caught up in a late-night crash with a police car in Canada.
The 47-year-old actor was travelling in an SUV when it collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary vehicle in St John’s shortly after 1am on Thursday, September 25.
Reports suggest he was returning from the set of a new Netflix drama when the accident occurred.
The SUV was driven by a 59-year-old man, who has not been named.
Emergency crews confirmed the driver, Hartnett, and the police officer were all taken to hospital for checks.
Thankfully, medics later said only minor injuries were sustained, though both vehicles were badly damaged.
Police are still investigating the incident and have appealed for dashcam or CCTV footage from the area.
Hartnett, best known for early 2000s hits Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down, has been in Newfoundland filming a high-profile Netflix series alongside Mackenzie Davis, Charlie Heaton, and Natasha Henstridge.
Once hailed as one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars, he famously stepped away from the limelight to pursue smaller projects.
In recent years, however, he has enjoyed a career revival with roles in Penny Dreadful, Wrath of Man, and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Josh Hartnett married British actress Tamsin Egerton in a private ceremony in London in November 2021.
The couple had been together for nearly a decade before tying the knot and have since welcomed four children.
