Glen Powell and Michael B Jordan will reportedly team up for the reboot film, Miami Vice, directed by Joseph Kosinski.
As per ScreenRant, the two actors are in talks to portray the iconic characters James ‘Sonny’ Crockett and Ricardo ‘Rico’ Tubbs, respectively. However, neither Universal Studios nor Kosinski has confirmed the news.
According to reports, if Powell and Jordan are confirmed for the film, the story will revolve more around character depths than the previous adaptations.
Notably, the film has a set release date of August 6, 2027, with Dan Gilroy penning the script, and will be shot on IMAX.
Netizens took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their excitement over the news. One fan wrote, “This casting is actually fire.” Another well-wisher penned, “This is such a cool pairing! I can totally see them as the new Crockett and Tubbs.”
Previously, the 2006 reboot, which Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell led, was the first theatrical adaptation based on the 1980s TV series of the same name.
The story follows detectives Sonny and Rico as they go deep undercover to infiltrate a powerful and dangerous drug organization. The latest reboot after a decade will probably follow the 1980s pastel aesthetic.
As of now, the Anyone But You lead will be returning to the big screens in The Running Man on November 14, while Jordan is currently directing a reboot of The Thomas Crown Affair.
The thriller heist film will be released on March 5, 2027, with Michael B. Jordan playing the main lead and directing it.
