Mariah Carey opened up about the recent tragedy in her family and how she overcame it with her latest album, Here For It All.
In a conversation with Daily Star, the 56-year-old singer revealed how she was recording her sixteenth studio album when she lost her mother and sister on the same day in 2024.
The pop sensation admitted that it was a difficult thing to process, “Going through all that other stuff while making the album, that was difficult.”
Mariah added, “It’s tough; my sister had an extremely hard life. And I feel really bad about that as well.”
Notably, Here For It All tackles love and loss and fuses R&B with new sounds and twists, which her producer, Anderson .Paak had a major role in adding.
The Obsessed hitmaker released her latest album after a hiatus of seven years. She released Caution in 2018 to much critical acclaim.
In 2020, Mariah mentioned her mother in her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, and described their relationship as ‘a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration, and disappointment.”
