British singer John Lennon, best known for being the member of he iconic band The Beatles, was shot in 1980.

The murder happened on December 8, 1980 outside the singer’s Manhattan apartment building.

John was fatally shot by Mark David Chapman with a revolver that targeted him with five hits, four of which hit the music icon.

Almost 45 years after his death, John’s murderer has been denied parole for the 14th time.

Mark was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years to life behind bars the following August.

The criminal, who is now 70 years old, recently made a fresh bid for release.

According to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, Mark appeared before a parole board on 27 August but his submission was denied.

He has opened up about his thought process and motive to commit the crime previously saying, “was so compelled to commit that murder that nothing would have dragged me away from that building.”

The legendary singer was shot by Mark hours after he had signed copy of his recently-released album Double Fantasy.

Mark will be eligible for parole in February 2027.
