Sabrina Carpenter is the only showgirl featured on Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl, and it seems that the former is dropping more clues.
The Mastermind singer had hinted to her twelfth studio album years in advance, even dropping a line from the two-time Grammy winner’s album Man’s Best Friend during The Eras Tour.
Now, the My Man on Willpower crooner has made a very on the nose reference for fans, which could indicate the vibe of a certain song, as things amp up for the global popstar’s release.
During her latest feature with Interview magazine, Sabrina noted that "Obviously my love for bands like Fleetwood Mac and ABBA is endless, but I’m having so much fun discovering new albums.”
Before this she stated, “"Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of the Blue Nile."
The Scottish band is certain to ring a bell in a swiftie’s mind as it was also name-dropped in Taylor’s eleventh album, The Tortured Poets Department.
In the track Guilty As Sin? the singer begins the song with “Drowning in the Blue Nile / He sent me 'Downtown Lights.'”
The track is widely speculated to be about Matty Healy, one of the 35-year-old's infamous boyfriends, as he had made references to the band prior the song's release.
Notably, this pointed reference could be completely unrelated to The Life of a Showgirl, or just a harmless suggestion by Taylor to Sabrina.
Taylor had said to Sabrina “Is there any chance you could get off the roller coaster you’re on and, like, put on some clothes and just come down to the stadium?” which is a direct reference to the latter’s song Goodbye.
