Howard Stern, who is known for his radio show, announced he would not be able to fulfil his promise.
On September 1, the broadcaster sent an email to his employees to inform them he will not be returning to the show on Tuesday, as dished by Daily Mail.
The outlet noted that the decision stemmed from his “frustrations over the new contract” with SiriusXM.
The latest news might seemingly indicate an end of his long-running career of two decades as his $500 million contract nears it expiry by the end of this year.
Howard, notable as the controversial radio figure, has also been heart-broken after witnessing his mother’s failing health as he admitted previously: “It rips my heart out.”
The 71-year-old revealed he wishes “to fix her.”
Meanwhile, a worker shared that the radio lost millions of listeners and is now left with only 125,000.
On August 15, the star announced he would return on Tuesday to answer some of the most anticipated questions: “Fired? Retiring? Canceled? Bye-Bye Booey?”
Similar announcements were being reported earlier, claiming that the broadcast is “cancelled after 20 years” as “it’s no longer worth the investment.”
Meanwhile, Howard himself is yet to speak about the chaos in his career and speculations of being cancelled. He is expected to explain if his long-running career is nearing its end.
