Actress Emma Stone admitted to believing in a major conspiracy theory while doing promo for her new film, Bugonia.
Explaining that she wholly believes in the existence of aliens, she expressed agreement with astronomer Carl Sagan, who said it would be “pretty narcissistic” to believe they don’t.
Considering that her film follows a successful female CEO who is kidnapped due to the belief that she is an alien, the questions about beings from outer space were quite expected.
“I don’t know about looking down on us, but one of my favourite people who has ever lived is Carl Sagan and I fell madly in love with his philosophy and science and how brilliant he is,” Stone stated.
The actress boldly declared, “He very deeply believed [that] the idea that we’re alone in this vast expansive universe – not that we’re being watched – is a pretty narcissistic thing. So, yes, I’m coming out and saying it: I believe in aliens.”
The Oscar winner has teamed up with director Yorgos Lanthimos for the 4th time, with the movie premiering in competition at the Lido.
Remarkably, this is Lanthimos’ third film in three years, all of which have starred Stone.
