Katy Perry stepped back into the legal spotlight as she fought to protect her $15 million Santa Barbara mansion.
The 40-year-old pop superstar appeared via Zoom on Tuesday, August 26, to give a 55-minute testimony in her ongoing dispute over the 1930s estate.
The Roar hitmaker shares the mansion with her ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom, which they had purchased in 2020 from entrepreneur Carl Westcott.
Westcott, the 1-800-Flowers founder, attempted to undo the deal, claiming he “lacked capacity” to finalise the sale.
He had reportedly been diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 2015.
However, Perry had already won a trial in May 2024, when a judge dismissed his claims, noting he appeared “coherent, engaged, lucid, and rational” at the time.
During her testimony, the songstress emphasised that she was seeking justice while also highlighting the financial stakes.
Furthermore, she explained that she could lose money if the court ruled against her, including legal fees, lost rental income, and other damages.
Notably, her legal team sought over $5 million in compensation, with $3 million specifically for lost rental revenue.
While Perry and Bloom had already paid $9 million, she confirmed they were prepared to cover the remaining $6 million, saying, “It could be a combination of Orlando and me. We are family for life.”
