Mastodon guitarist dies in gruesome motorcycle accident

Brent Hinds, the former lead guitarist for the heavy metal band Mastodon has tragically passed away in Atlanta.

According to the authorities, a car crash took place when he was on his Harley Davidson and a car driver failed to yield when making a turn at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Boulevard.

His death was officially confirmed by the Fulton County medical examiner’s office.

51 at the time of his death, he was best known for co-founding the Atlanta based band along with bassist Troy Sanders, guitarist Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor.

As of this year, they had released a total of 8 albums, earning a Grammy award for their performance of Sultan’s Curse from their album, Emperor of Sand.

Mastodon admitted in a statement that they are in a “state of unfathomable sadness and grief.”

“We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we’ve shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many,” they added. “Our hearts are with Brent’s family, friends, and fans. At this time, we please ask that you respect everyone’s privacy during this difficult time.”
