Lana Del Rey is not mincing words as she name dropped Ethel Cain, escalating the feud between the two singers with a surprising Taylor Swift connection.
The Snow On The Beach singer released a snippet of her upcoming collaboration with Taylor’s longtime associate, Jack Antonoff on Instagram the same day that the 14-time Grammy winner announced her forthcoming album.
In the lyrics of the track, the Cinnamon Girl crooner sings, “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it’s cute reenacting my Chicago pose,” before going into the details of her feud with the American Teenager singer.
Lana noted in a comment on the platform, “I didn’t know who Ethel was until a few years ago – when someone brought to my attention the disturbing and graphic side-by-side images she would often put up of me next to unflattering creatures and cartoon characters making constant comments about my weight, I was confused at what she was getting at.”
The Billboard Music Award winner further explained that she then found out what Ethel had been saying about her to mutual friends, and how the 27-year-old inserted herself into the former’s personal life, which the Summertime Sadness singer found disturbing.
Notably, Jack has also collaborated with Taylor on her “revenge” songs such as Look What You Made Me Do off of Reputation.
Lana’s tenth studio album has undergone many changes, with the name and official release date not being announced as of yet.
