Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s shiny new Netflix pact may not be the win it looks like.
Celebrity chef Jameson Stocks (who has cooked for King Charles) claims the couple’s “multi-year” agreement is effectively a pay-per-show setup, a notable step down from their reported $100M deal in 2020.
Stocks tells how the streamer will keep backing Archewell Productions and Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever, but warns the Duchess’ on-screen future “hangs by a thread” unless audiences grow.
With season 2 of With Love, Meghan coming “later this month”, plus a December holiday special that could clash with Princess Kate’s annual carol concert, the chef argues the series “brings nothing new into people’s homes.”
“Netflix will get to a point where they won’t know what to do with her,” he quips, suggesting enthusiasm for Meghan’s food-and-lifestyle lane is cooling.
“This temporary, paid-per-show extension says they’re pulling back.”
Insiders also point to Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within, a short documentary on Ugandan children, as a pivot toward socially conscious projects, and a test of the couple’s broader storytelling pull.
