Sharon Stone, a fearless and bold Hollywood icon, has a dark skeleton in her closet, an abusive childhood and trauma that she suffered along with her mum and sisters.
In an interview published on Aug. 11 in The Guardian, Sharon reflected on her mother’s death and the sexual abuse by her grandfather.
Sharon announced her mother’s death in late July this year via an Instagram post. However, she revealed that her mum, Dorothy Marie, had died a few months before her posting.
“I was only ready to tell the public about it now because I always get my mad feelings first when people die.” Sharon described the madness as a mix of anger and “a little bit of ‘I didn’t f***ing need you anyway’.”
Following her sharp statement, the Oscar-nominated actor laughed and remembered her mother as hilarious, but said she also “said terrible things” to her.
Moreover, she mentioned that the last thing her mother said to her was: “You talk too much, you make me want to commit suicide."
Perhaps the Basic Instinct legend describes her mother’s attitude as “lack of ability to find tenderness and peace within herself.”
Sharon took the conversation forward towards her family’s dysfunctionality, and the childhood trauma which had been hidden for long until her 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, came out.
In the memoir, she mentioned that her maternal grandfather was a violent abuser and a paedophile. There hadn’t been a day when he didn’t beat Sharon’s mother.
Stone says Dorothy had a terrible death. “She was desperately afraid that when she died her mother and father would be there. She didn’t want to die because she didn’t want to see them, because they were so awful.”
The Golden Globe-winning star said that she convinced her mum “that I had put them in jail and they were not going to be there. She was in such hell.” She pauses. “Nobody comes through this life intact. So why do we pretend that one does?”
