Prince Harry denies physical fight with Prince Andrew, considers legal action

Prince Harry has denied claims made in a new book alleging he was involved in a physical altercation with his uncle, Prince Andrew, during a family gathering in 2013.

The allegations appear in Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, a new book by royal biographer Andrew Lownie.

In an excerpt published by the Daily Mail, Lownie claims that Harry punched Prince Andrew, leaving him with a bloody nose, following a heated exchange over Meghan Markle.

According to the book, Andrew reportedly criticized Meghan, then Harry’s girlfriend, calling her “an opportunist” and claiming the relationship would not last.

Lownie writes that a confrontation ensued, which “Harry got the better of,” before it was broken up.

In response, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex issued a strong denial: “I can confirm Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make the comments he is alleged to have made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry.”

The Sussexes have also taken legal action. Their legal team issued a letter to the Daily Mail regarding what they described as “gross inaccuracies, damaging and defamatory remarks.”

Meanwhile, Lownie responded to the backlash on social media, posting a link to a Newsweek article reporting that Harry had “called in the lawyers.” He wrote: “I look forward to doing battle and the disclosures which will emerge.”

Despite the firm denial from Harry and Meghan, Lownie maintains that his reporting is based on sources “close to both men.”
