‘Zootopia 2’ trailer uncovers a darker mystery

Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the first trailer and poster for their highly anticipated sequel, Zootopia 2, set to hit theatres on November 26.

After solving the most significant case in Zootopia's history, rookie police officers Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) discover that their relationship isn't as strong as they initially believed when Chief Bogo (voiced by Idris Elba) requires them to enrol in the Partners in Crisis counselling program.

They soon find themselves on the tangled trail of a mystery connected to the arrival of a poisonous snake in the animal metropolis, which puts their partnership to the ultimate test.

In addition to bringing back a few characters who first appeared in the Oscar winning movie Zootopia, Zootopia 2 also features Gary De'Snake (voice of Ke Huy Quan), Nibbles (voice of Fortune Feimster), and quokka therapist Dr. Fuzzby (voice of Quinta Brunson).

“It’s been an absolute joy to reteam with so many actors who made the first film so special, and so exciting to expand the world with our phenomenal new cast members,” Jared Bush, the film’s writer and director, said (Bush is also the chief creative officer for Walt Disney Animation Studios). “I can’t wait for audiences to see what other surprises we have in store in this brand-new adventure.”

Zootopia 2, the 64th animated feature film from Walt Disney Animation Studios, was produced by Yvett Merino and directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, who were both Oscar winners.

What is the story of Zootopia?

Zootopia follows rookie bunny cop Judy Hopps who teams up with sly fox Nick Wilde to solve a missing mammal case in a city where predators and prey coexist. Together, they uncover a conspiracy that challenges the city’s harmony and stereotypes.
