Blake Shelton made headlines by issuing a rare verdict on his musical legacy that he’s not a fan of covers or remixes.
During a recent appearance on Taste of Country Nights, the Oklahoma-born star praised his wife Gwen Stefani’s musical talents.
He admitted to loving No Doubt’s take on Talk Talk’s classic It’s My Life and confessed that he prefers her version even over the original.
Furthermore, the 49-year-old singer was also candid about his own catalogue.
“I don’t ever want someone redoing my songs,” he quipped, joking that others might outperform him and leave his originals in the shade.
The country icon, who has notched 30 No. 1 hits across Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, remains firmly rooted in his own sound.
Earlier this month, he teamed up with Noah Cyrus on her single New Country.
For those unfamiliar, Shelton and Stefani were first connected on The Voice, and later tied the knot at his Oklahoma ranch in 2021.
Notably, they celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary this summer.
Most recently, the couple sparked controversy over a pre-recorded performance aired during the American Music Awards.
