Sam Thompson talks Zara McDermott split after her sweet nod to Louis Tomlinson

Sam Thompson’s relationship with Zara McDermott ended in December 2024 after 5 years.

The two seperated and went on their own paths with Zara finding solace with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson as they started dating in March.

The British star has now opened up about the time after the split as he calls it an “uncomfortable” year.

“I mean, this year, there's been one big uncomfortable situation. I feel like you need a bad year or not bad year but an uncomfortable year to change who you are as a person.”, the 32-year-old said.

Talking about his stint with UNICEF, he said it helped him “pent-up” his emotion.

“I have a lot of people who I depend on and as much as I love that, I still feel inside like I'm not quite at the place where I can take care of myself.”, he added on his close friend Pete Wicks’ Man Made podcast.

Speaking about becoming a person who is comfortable in asking for help, he said “Asking for help, no. I think I lean a little bit too heavily into the depending.”
