It was announced on July 17 that Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show will be getting cancelled. The channel gave financial strains as the reason behind the decision.
Following the announcement, the President of United States has weighed in on the news, taking a jab at other late night show hosts.
“I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings.”, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
But that was not it, he went on to drag other hosts along with Colbert who have been vocal about their opposition of him.
“I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”
As the news broke out, many CBS employees, who worked for the show, came forward to reveal to The Independent that it was in fact not a financial decision but a part of the ongoing “Trump shakedown”.
Jimmy Fallon famously called Trump the “first convicted felon ever elected president” meanwhile Colbert has also vocalised his dislike for Trump’s policies.
Similarly, when Trump won the 2024 elections, Jimmy Kimmel said on his show “It was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him. And guess what? It was a bad night for everyone who voted for him too. You just don’t realize it yet.”
