Lauren Sánchez opens up about her Maid of Honour

The Grammy-winning American journalist Lauren Sánchez married the Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in a traditional wedding ceremony in Italy on Friday, June 27.

In a black-tie ceremony on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, the bride was walked down the aisle by her sons Nikko and Evan.

Meanwhile, Lauren's 17-year-old daughter Ella accompanied her mother at the altar as her maid of honour.

The New York Times best-selling author welcomed her 24-year-old son Nikko in 2001 with her ex-boyfriend, former NFL player Tony Gonzalez.

After the relationship ended, Sánchez married her now ex-husband, businessman Patrick Whitesell, and welcomed son Evan, 19, in 2006, and daughter Ella in 2008.

Sánchez began dating the Amazon founder in 2019 and tied the knot in 2025.

According to Vogue, serving as the bride’s maid of honour, Ella delivered a reading at the ceremony. Ella wore a Dolce & Gabbana suit, while her mother wore a custom-made, corseted, mermaid-style wedding gown by Dolce, along with Dolce earrings, Vogue reported.

“Ella’s original; she beats to her own drum,” Lauren shared with the outlet. “She had never had a fitting before, and she loved it. She’s going to look amazing. It has been the most fun dressing all the kids.”

Vogue confirmed that Lauren's two sons graced the aisle at her wedding with Bezos.

Moreover, a source revealed to PEOPLE that the couple started their wedding ceremony with a performance of Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley, sung by Matteo Bocelli, to cheers from the guests.
