Cardi B made official her pregnancy with baby no. 4, and the first one with boyfriend Stefon Diggs, but she waited to feel ready before announcing the news.
On Wednesday, September 17, Cardi broke the big news on Gayle King’s CBS Mornings.
"I just was like, 'Can I just say it on my own time? Like, I'm not hiding,'" Cardi told Gayle. "On my time, on my own terms. Let me close some deals first, you know what I'm saying? Let me close some deals first."
The Grammy-winning rapper, who is set to release her new album, Am I The Drama?, is a mother of Kulture, 7, Wave, 4, and Blossom, 12 months, with ex Offset.
Cardi said she wanted to make sure she had gone far enough before she broke the news to the world.
"And it's like, you don't really want to say right away that you're pregnant," she said. "It's like, 'Let me see a couple more sonograms. Let my baby be healthy.'"
Although she had set out to announce the big news to the public, Cardi said that she hadn’t told her parents yet that she was pregnant again before coming on Gayle’s show.
"They just be looking at me," she said. "I'm very scared of my parents."
Even though pregnancy, amidst the arrival of her new album, Am I The Drama?, set to drop Sept. 19, has been “very hard,” the couple felt ready for this exciting new step together.
