Brenda Song reveals how she landed ‘The Social Network’
The actress was not on the movie as planned
Brenda Song has revealed that she had to convince the people at Disney to let her be in the 2010 movie The Social Network, based on the creation of Facebook.
Brenda rose to fame from the children’s show The Suite Life of Zack & Cody where she played the role of London Tipton, a character based on Paris Hilton.
The actress made an appearance at the Bentonville Film Festival, where she received the Virtuoso Award, she talked about how the show and movie impacted her career and decisions.
The 37-year-old said she had to fight hard to secure the role in the 2010 movie . She convinced Gary Marsh, then-president and COO for Disney branded television, to let her do it.
In conversation with Variety, Brenda recalled the conversation she had with Gary, telling that she had to convince him as it was during the last season of the show.
“I was just like, 'I am an actor. When you hired me, I was not a hotel heiress. If I have ever done anything in my personal life to ever draw bad attention to your company, I understand. But this is the last season of the show, and this is the opportunity of a lifetime”.
Brenda played Andrew Garfield’s love interest Christy Lee.
The movie went on to get 8 Oscar nominations.
