Nicki Minaj hints at career struggles linked to unnamed business ties
Nicki Minaj has been posting cryptic messages on social media, seemingly expressing a number of grievances she has with Jay-Z's company, Roc Nation, over the past few days.
The 42-year-old Grammy-nominated singer implied that the musical monolith has harmed her career in a series of X posts, but she did not specifically name Jay-Z or any of his associates.
In reference to the problematic business relationship, the 42-year-old Super Bass artist told her fans on the platform, "Barbz, that's the REAL reason I won't release music."
The Barbie Tingz singer seemed to attribute Jay-Z's business to "distractions" she has experienced that have prevented her from putting out new music. (Pink Friday 2, released in 2023, was her most recent album.)
Minaj made what appeared to be a reference to the Empire State of Mind rapper, who has collaborated with the NFL for years through a Roc Nation partnership, in a string of X posts regarding fan reports of being shadowbanned, "NFL FIRE SOME N***** & den [emoji for phone]."
