Benson Boone, who was recognised after his debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades, tried addressing internet criticism in his new album American Heart.
Although fans were looking forward to the release of the much anticipated songs, the 22-year-old singer was not appreciated much.
After streaming the new tracks, fans expressed their opinion on X (formerly Twitter) as one user called him out for being “desperate” and “acting like a victim.”
Another user speculated that the online hate he receives is “being completely manufactured by him so he could act like some type of tormented artist.”
A third netizen pointed out that he is “trying to be Harry Styles but he’ll never even touch a glitter on his suit.”
A fourth fan was critical at him for taking “a jab at criticisms” too early. “He already thinks he’s had that mileage of a career lol,” they added.
However, few music lovers clapped back at the “unnecessary criticism.” Someone noted that as “a new talent with amazing voice finally comes along, they can’t stop hating them.”
It is to be noted that Benson came up with these new tracks in order to respond to all the haters, while it seemingly backfired at him.
Meanwhile many fans still appear to be standing by him with new music lovers slowly recognising his new tracks despite the ongoing hate and criticism.
According to the online theories, sophomore albums can have great impacts on the musician’s career.
The release of the record came after his debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades (2024), which stood at first place in Norway and was among the top five in New Zealand.
He later created singles Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else, Mystical Magic and Momma Song.
