The ongoing legal dispute between K-pop group NewJeans and their agency ADOR remains unresolved, with no prospect of a settlement following the second court hearing on June 5.

The case, held at Seoul Central District Court, concerns ADOR's lawsuit to uphold NewJeans' exclusive contract. Although the group’s members did not attend, their legal team firmly rejected any possibility of reconciliation.

When asked about a settlement, the team stated, "The relationship of trust has completely collapsed. It’s like crossing a river of no return," emphasising that an agreement was highly unlikely.

In contrast, ADOR expressed a more conciliatory stance, indicating they would be open to resolution once the court reaches a final decision.

The legal conflict began in November 2024, when NewJeans sought to terminate their contract, citing a breakdown in trust.

ADOR responded by securing an injunction preventing the group from independent promotions, with hefty fines for any violations. A third hearing is set for July 24, 2025.

How did the NewJeans vs ADOR controversy begin?

The controversy began after ADOR fired its CEO Min Hee-jin and the decision was met with protest from NewJeans.

The idols attempted to terminate their contract with ADOR which it denied and prevented the girl group from performing independently.
